Navigation and obstacles: Saros 20

Roborock lists recognition of 300+ obstacle types, using an RGB camera plus 3D time-of-flight sensors. Its AdaptiLift chassis raises the body to cross double-layer steps up to 3.46 inches, and at 3.13 inches it fits under lower furniture than any other robot we cover. Dreame describes the L40's Smart Pathfinder and 3DAdapt navigation in more general terms (it avoids items like shoes).

Corners and carpets: L40 Ultra Gen 2

The L40 extends its brush and mop into corners and under furniture. It also gives you four carpet modes: avoid carpets, boost suction, intensive carpet cleaning, and a 0.41-inch mop lift. Roborock's listing for the Saros 20 doesn't give a mop-lift figure.

Suction

On paper the Saros 20 is rated higher (36,000 Pa vs 25,000 Pa). Each brand measures suction its own way, so treat the gap as indicative, not exact.

Owner base

The Saros 20 listing has several thousand ratings. The L40 Ultra Gen 2 has about 600, with a slightly higher average. A smaller pool means the average can still move.

Bottom line

Pick the Saros 20 if your floors are cluttered, you have thresholds or low furniture, or you want the most detailed obstacle recognition. Pick the L40 Ultra Gen 2 if corners collect the dirt in your home and you want fine control over rugs. Both are research picks. We haven't tested either one in person.
